当地时间4月13日晚间，美国总统特朗普宣布与英国、法国联合采取军事行动空袭叙利亚。

特朗普还在4月14日和15日两天分别在社交媒体Twitter上发推，为美军突袭叙利亚行动辨解：

昨夜发动的突袭行动很完美。感谢法国和英国的睿智及其军事力量。结果完美。使命完成！

对叙利亚的袭击行动很完美，非常精准，而那些假新闻媒体唯一能诟病的是我使用了“使命完成！”的字眼。我知道这些假新闻媒体会揪住这个不放，但我觉得这是一个非常好的军事词，应该重新使用起来。还要经常用！

从特朗普的字里行间，很清晰地感受到了作为一个超级大国总统的优越感。

但是，回到在2013年，同样是美军突袭叙利亚的行动，特朗普却曾在推特上多次发文，一再“喊话”当时的美国领导人奥巴马不要攻打叙利亚，并称他为“foolish leader”。他还在推特中表示，对于袭击行动，美国总统也需要先获得国会的授权，并称这样做不仅没有任何好处且代价甚巨，还不如投入经济。

中国有句话，“不在其位，不谋其政”，而另一句话则是“不当家，不知柴米贵”。特朗普在台上台下的截然不同的表现，让人想到一个词，就是“翻旧账”。

那么，英语的“翻译旧账”又有怎么样的词语呢？

1、dredge it up

If someone dredges up a damaging or upsetting fact about your past, they remind you of it or tell other people about it. 翻出,重提(令人不快的往事)

例句：

It's the media who keep dredging it up.

是媒体一直在翻旧账。

I wouldn't want to dredge up the past.

我不想重提往事

2、rake up the past

If someone is raking up something unpleasant or embarrassing that happened in the past, they are talking about it when you would prefer them not to mention it. 重新提起（令人不悦或难堪的事情）

例句：

Raking up the past will only make things worse.

重翻旧账只会使事情更糟。

3、quibble over the appetizers

例句：

When you quarrel with a close friend, talk about the main dish, don't quibble over the appetizers

和亲近的朋友吵架时要就事论事，不要扯出那些陈年旧事。

4、settle scores（with the past）

例句：

Ukraine does not want to settle scores with the past, which cannot be changed.

乌克兰不想翻过去的旧账，因为过去已无法改变。

5、bring up old scores again

例句：

We do not want to bring up old scores.
